Hi everybody.
There is a great site that is holding a competition to find the best dog blogs.
Please take a look by clicking: www.TrainPetDog.com and voting for my blog by entering code: giget (enter only these 5 letters in lower case – code IS case sensitive)
The competition closes on 20 Feb 2010 – so I hope you can vote before then.
I have just returned to Swindon in the UK from a trip to St Petersburg in Russia and plan to be back in the USA in a couple of days – when I will be able to restart posting useful blogs about the dogs I train.
Any comments and suggestions you have to help me decide what to write about are always welcome. Please just leave a comment.

Hounds are divided into two groups:
Scenthounds use their noses to follow their pray and are capable of following a trail for miles or days.
Breeds include: Beagles, Basset Hounds, Bloodhounds, Dachshunds, also some types of Coonhounds
Sighthounds are built for speed. They take off after fast moving pray to bring them down.
Breeds include: Greyhounds , Russian Wolfhounds / Borzoi, Afghan Hounds and Irish Wolfhounds.
*Beagles are good rabbit and hare hunters. They are independent thinkers and like to do things their own way. Beagles learn best when trainers make things interesting and fun.
During training keep handing out treats on a random basis, so the dog never knows when it will be rewarded.
